What’s the worst book you’ve read recently?

Worst books, hm? Well, I don’t wan to call any authors out because I think that would be in poor taste and just plain mean, but I will disclose that I have read some pretty bad books in recent weeks. Some of them because they were boring, some because they were confusing, and some because the editing was not that good. I think it’s pretty inevitable that one out of every… hm… 5 books id going to be less than stellar. Though, if you get lucky, maybe one in eight. By the law of averages, you are going to end up reading something that doesn’t appeal. AWFUL books, though, are about one in 20 for me. I consider myself lucky in that regard.

What’s the most serious book you’ve read recently?

One of the last books I read, called Testimony by Anita Shreve. You can read my review of the book here. The subject of the book is a sexual assault involving a 14 year old girl and three of age boys who attend the same private school as her. It was quite an emotional book.

What’s the funniest book you’ve read recently?

I would have to say that the funniest book I’ve read recently is the book I am reading now: Undead and Unwed (Queen Betsy, Book 1) by MaryJanice Davidson.

The suicide scenes at the beginning were hilarious and Betsy’s reactions to everything vampire makes me laugh. It really is as if your average, every day girl just became a vampire, so all of her reactions are so funny.

Do you keep all your unread books together, like books in a waiting room? Or are they scattered throughout your shelves, mingling like party-goers waiting for the host to come along?

I don’t have enough shelf space for all of my books, read and unread. I decided to use my shelves to separate what I have read from what I haven’t read. When I finish a book and I intend to keep it, I find some space to cram it on one of my shelves. The books that I haven’t read, my TBR books, I stack up in piles infront of one of my shelves. It’s the only space I have to put them! I sincerely wish I had more room. I would love to have another shelf for my read books, and one whole shelf for my TBR books, that way I can look at the shelf and see what I am looking forward to. Some books get stuck on the bottom of a pile and I forget I own it. If I just mingled together my read and TBR books, I would end up forgetting which ones I have and haven’t read. I have a terrible memory for that sort of thing.

So here today I present to you an Unread Books Challenge. Give me the list or take a picture of all the books you have stacked on your bedside table, hidden under the bed or standing in your shelf – the books you have not read, but keep meaning to. The books that begin to weigh on your mind. The books that make you cover your ears in conversation and say, “No! Don’t give me another book to read! I can’t finish the ones I have!”

Oh man. I actually ran out of space to put my books, so all of my TBR books are in eight uneven stacks in front of one of my shelves. I keep telling my boyfriend that I REALLY need a new shelf, but so far he hasn’t purchased me one yet.

I digress.

My TBR pile! Like I said, there are eight of them. Six are pretty much the same size with about 20 books in each stack. The other two stacks are just starting out. Suffice to say, I have over 100 books waiting for me.
