The subject for this week is Things That Turn You Off About People.

  1. People’s natural inclination for selfishness. Like, when you are on a cell phone, not everyone wants to hear your conversation. Not everyone thinks you are as clever as your friends and family. Not everyone likes your perfume.
  2. That a lot of people are very self-involved. We text away on cell phones, talk on headsets, listen to iPods, all the while shutting each other out.
  3. Don’t blow your cigarette smoke at me! Blow it up or in another direction, not mine.
  4. People are also very gullible. Just because they say it on the news doesn’t mean it’s right. Try to investigate multiple sources, think about the information, and come up your own judgment. It really is quite nice to have an opinion not sent to you by the media.
  5. There’s more to the world than the immediate. Stop thinking about the present and about your own future and broaden your scope. So many people only look at what is around them and what impacts them. We need to think about the future of the earth and what resources will be left for the future.
  6. I am very annoyed that people in general seem to be fascinated with the lives of famous/rich people. Who really cares about actors and musicians? Why are they so special? Why are we giving Paris Hilton so much attention when there are a lot of good people out there making sacrifices that go unrewarded?
  7. People are also very hypocritical. I can’t stand seeing ‘save the earth’ bumper stickers on gasoline cars. Or people who are vegans yet drive cars. If you are going to make a statement about something, make a real statement, not just a superficial exclamation.
  8. I hate the way that people (men and women) treat women. The modern perception of women is that they are sex objects, things to be looked at, and women perpetuate this standard by wearing revealing clothing and participating in college night wet t-shirt contests. We are never going to be respected for being strong and capable until we put an end to that sort of stuff.
  9. Inflated sense of self… yes, you are special, but you are not the most special person in the world. No one has to cater to you or accept your rudeness.
  10. You are not the exception to the rule. Just being you is not enough to not have to follow the same rules as everyone else. If the speed limit is 55, abide it. If the theater asks no cell phones on, put yours away. You get the picture. Just respect rules. You are not the exception to the rule. Just being you is not enough to not have to follow the same rules as everyone else.
