OurStage is a great website for discovering new music and new musicians whether you are a lover of music or a musician yourself. By registering you can rate music and even upload your own for others to discover. And there is incentive to adding your own music besides getting your name and talent out there. OurStage sponsors contests for musicians. For example, right now and until November 22nd, musicians can enter the Converse “Get Out of the Garage” Contest, which is of course sponsored by OurStage – Discover New Music. The community itself votes on the music submitted, narrowing it down to the top ten in both the rock and urban genres. At that point, a panel of selected music industry professionals will select one winner in both categories.
What do winners get?
The grand prize winner gets an all expense paid trip to Austin, Texas to play in a March, 2010 concert festival. This includes room, meals, Guitar Center gift certificate, and cash prize. Four first place winners will also be selected. They get some free CDs, Converse shoes (the best brand!), and a Guitar Center gift certificate.
