We were all warned as children to ‘never talk to strangers’, but how do you feel about book-talk with random people? When you see people reading, do you ask what it is? Do you talk to people in the book store or the library? Why or why not? What do you do if people talk to you?
I am an isolated and reserved person by nature. I don’t really like to talk to anybody, unfortunately. If I see someone reading something that looks interesting, I will commit the title of the book or the author to memory and then go online to Amazon and find the book. I would rather not interrupt someone in the middle of reading, anyway, because I’d hate to break their zone. I know that when I am reading, I’m likely engrossed. If someone comes up to me and talks to me, I am going to get thrown out of my head and the mental stride is broken. If people do talk to me, I politely answer their questions and smile, but I am likely very annoyed inside that they bothered me. Again, I am not the sort of person who wants to be social– I am reading alone for a reason, after all.

I’m totally with you on this. I don’t usually initiate conversations with random people but will politely answer when spoken to. And I can’t help but take note of what books I see people reading. There was this one time though, where I was at a bookstore and two people were having a long discussion about whether or not their niece(or something like that) would like the book they were looking at(neither of them being familiar with the series or possibly even the author) and after awhile, I nipped in and mentioned that I’d read it and enjoyed it.
