Just like I thought, the Tropical Storm passed right over us with just a little wind and rain. For a few minutes, it got super windy, but it wasn’t anything drastic. Power never flickered, my DSL signal never went out and I could still move boxes to Alfred’s car because there was no rain. All in all, it was a pretty normal day besides the dark sky.
But it’s so hard to work on a rainy, dark day, isn’t it!? On days where the wind is howling and the sky keeps breaking gray clouds into the occasional bought of thin rain, everything feels sleepy. It was hard to get out of bed this morning. For some reason, my energy level was connected to the weather and the dark sky kept telling me to just close my eyes again and get a few more hours sleep. The only reason I got up was because eventually I heard Alfred’s car alarm activate and knew he was here. I wanted to jump into the shower before he came inside.
You know, to at least give the illusion that I’m not a lazy procrastinator.
But man, we ended up with about six boxes. I was a little sad, though, because some of my most important things are broken. Ever since I was born, my grandparents have sent me a Christmas ornament every year. They always have the year on them. I have them from 1981 to now. As I was going through my mother’s Christmas things to pull out my ornaments, I saw that my ornaments from 1982 and 1983 are broken right in half. But, as luck would have it, both of my sister’s survived. Go figure, right? It seriously broke my heart.
I am going to have to glue them together. Does anyone know a super glue or an adhesive that would be good for piecing together old things, that won’t yellow gradually over the years and end up making the artifact look even grosser? I am really desperate to put these two ornaments back together. I doubt I will ever hang them as they are too fragile even glued, but I want to preserve them. I want to be able to pull them out and remember them.

Aww sorry to hear about your belongings getting broken
think you cant get special glue for things like that but not sure.. hope you get them fixed soon!
You’d be surprised at how well Elmer’s Glue works. Especially since you have no intention to use them as ornaments, I don’t see why it won’t work. My brother uses Elmer’s a lot on his models, especially now that he’s refining them all for his portfolio - his room is perpetually caked in Elmer’s. But the models look great.
And, the melancholy of a cloudy day tends to make me feel very lethargic - I’m sure this is the case for a lot of people. I think it has something to do with our eyes thinking it’s evening.
